Arsenal former striker Eduardo has confessed that the decision to leave Arsenal was tough and expressed his sadness and gratitude towards Gunners who nursed him back to fitness after a serious leg injury.

Eduardo was playing for Arsenal from last three years and now transfer to Ukrainian team Shakhtar Donetsk on Wednesday. For three years unfortunately the 27 year old forward suffered from various injuries and among them horrific leg injury.

The injury of Eduardo happened during a match at the Emirates Stadium where he suffered from dislocated ankle in a challenge with Birmingham defender Martin Taylor in February 2008. He was out of football for almost a year because of the injury and this created a psychological pressure on Brazilian star. The problem persists and he never reached his peak performance after that.

“Although I am excited about the challenge ahead with my new club Shakhtar Donetsk, I am so sad to be leaving my home for the past three years – Arsenal Football Club.

“Arsenal is a very special football club and I will miss so many people – my team-mates, all the staff and, of course, the wonderful Arsenal supporters.

“Although I have now left the club, Arsenal will always be in my heart. I will always look for the Arsenal results and of course, I wish Arsene Wenger and the great players at the club well for next season and the future.”
