Arsenal May Offer £10 Million Offer For Werder Bremen’s Per Mertesacker
In another move, Arsenal is contemplating to buy German international centre-back Per Mertesacker. Although Gunners are first looking for Everton’s Phi Jagielka, and if the deal wouldn’t be successful then the Blues might offer £10 million bid for German centre-back.
Based on the report published in Daily star, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is ready to leave the attempts to sign the Everton’s defender after £14m offer rejected by his counterpart David Moves earlier this summer.
Arsenal manager is now eyeing on German centre-back Per Mertasacker and ready to cough off £10 million. The present centre-back William Gallas and Mikael Silvestre are on the move so he needs to fill up the position.
The German international played good matches in recently finished World Cup and left two years deal with Werder Bremen. The 25 year old has 69 international caps for his country.
Wenger is planning to secure his position in Blues for around £10 million.
Arsenal poor defense would be better with Mertesacker as he is one of the renowned centre-backs and has a spectacular ability to give long passes.
Meanwhile talks with Sol Campbell over a deal continue, talking to the Daily Mail Wenger said:,
“There is no news on a defensive signing but numbers-wise we are short in defense,”
“The situation is still open for Sol Campbell and for the rest we are still looking.” he added.

I watched him at the world cup. He is calm on the ball with good technique. There was no ball in the air he did not win (except for Puyol’s goal). Should be good for the team I like him and he really has great vision.
