Captain of Gunners Cesc Fabregas recently admitted that his young team-mates needs to display more maturity if they want to end Arsenal’s five-year wait for a major trophy.

Arsenal is still in the title race of Premier League after beating by 1-0 to Liverpool 1-0 Wednesday. However, the defeats of the Gunners against Chelsea as well as Manchester United exposed their lack of killer instinct.

Arsenal manager dominated possession for long in the two losses without looking like displaying a knockout blow to the opponents.

This fall makes Fabregas believe that it is high time for youngsters of Arsenal to grow up.

He said, “As a team, we need to be stronger. We can’t hide behind people saying we are too young or we have injuries. We just have to compete. People say you must learn from your mistakes, but you learn how to play football when you are 12, 13, 14, 15. You don’t learn these things when you are 25.”

He also added, “Of course, you can still improve, always improve, but the basics must be there. If you play for Arsenal, it is because you have to have these attributes. That is why I do not believe age is an excuse.”

If we compare the club to Chelsea and United Manchester then the team of Fabregas have favourable run-in with no more fixtures against ‘big four’ rivals.

However, Fabregas knows that the team will still face many intensely pressurised matches if the title race goes down to the wire. He adds that team Arsenal has to learn art of winning when the stakes are highest.
