Arsene Wenger recently said that it is like a gamble to him in demoting Gallas to restore unity in a fractured dressing room. He also said that he has been very impressed by the response of France defender’s and his utmost form that he has made up his mind to secure him on a new contract.

Arsene Wenger said, “The incident that happened with Gallas was in November of last season when he was stripped of the captaincy.”

He also mentioned, “Toward the end of last season, he was very good. I expected at some point that he would want to leave because of what happened but he has found a new balance, a new mood and he has weight in this team.”

He added that it was a hard decision for him because one never knows what kind of consequences the decision will have on the squad or on the individual.

Wenger even mentioned that any decision of such kind can have psychological consequences and that are too hard to measure.
