Wenger confirms Theo Walcott’s bruised knee
Arsene Wenger says Theo Walcott has a bruised knee, which is swollen and it is difficult to assess the situation at the moment. Wenger informed this on the official website of the Arsenal.
Whether it is a medial knee ligament that has been twisted or it is just a kick is not perfectly known at present. He says that Walcott felt a little unstable when he was running.

Wenger mentions, “We will assess the situation tomorrow morning. He will be scanned and if it is just a kick he has a good chance to play on Tuesday night [at Alkmaar]. If it is more, he will not play on Tuesday. I believe personally he will not be available on Tuesday at least. It is not a cruciate for example but it could be more than a week if it is a twisted ligament.”
He also added that he was not happy with the Ridgwell’s tackle because it was a tackle cut through without any restriction. He continued, “I felt it was a tackle meant to impress but I want to see it again – that was my first impression from the bench. It looked a quick and hard challenge from outside. I don’t know – did he want to play the ball? He certainly went through him and if he touched the ball only it is part of the game.”
Well, Arsene Wenger was very much impressed by Alex Song’s performance and in particular the physical presence of the midfielder.
Wenger said that he is strong and smooth and is not rigid, but agile. The coach also enthused that he is a slalom player and not a straight-line, and he has a good combination of both, strength as well as agility. Wenger believes that he uses his technique intelligently.
The boss of Arsenal also told to the media, “He likes a tackle. Cameroon people are strong, you know? In Africa they call them the Germans of Africa because of their strong bodies.”
