Johan Djourou, the defender of Arsenal, will be missing the next 6 months of this season because he has been undergone a surgery to cure his long-standing knee problem.

According to the news published on skysports.com, it has been announced by the Swiss Football Federation that Johan Djourou has undergone a knee surgery on his left knee.

The Swiss Football Federation will not be able to feature Johan Djourou until 2010 and this will also practically leave Arsenal short of options at the back.

Johan Djourou is an important player in Arsenal in fact after the departure of Kolo Toure to Manchester City.

The pair William Gallas and Thomas Vermaelen (new signing) have on one hand impressed this season, but the injury of Johan Djourou’s leaves Arsene Wenger short of options at the back and so the club will keep a hope that the duo remains fit.
