Van Persie not out of contract this year, but extends deal
By Randy Osae

“We want to extend his contract it’s our priority to extend Bendtner’s contract too. We need to get everyone around the table, we have done that a few times but have been delayed after it. He wants to stay, I want him to stay but he still has two years to go anyway.”
That was Arsene Wenger’s response to a question on Van Persie’s contract situation following the season’s curtain-closer against Stoke City in May. (original article here)
As much as rumors that the Dutchman may pull off a ‘Flamoney’ sprung about, there were also suggestions that the media were wrongly speculating on the length of Van Persie’s contract which – according to them – was to expire this summer.
Never is the length of a player’s deal disclosed by Arsenal Football Club, and it may be safe to say Van Persie is not a free agent at the moment.
The transfer window officially opened on July 1, and if that was the case, then the player has the right to speak to any potential recruiters.
And if last season’s top-scorer really saw his contract run out, then he may have renewed it immediately – according to reports by the The Independent.
Reports claim the Dutchman has penned a new deal at the club which will tie him at the Emirates Stadium until 2014. The player himself hinted on that in an interview on Setanta Sports a few months ago.

This is not ‘le grove’ mate.
Why would a team enter into negotiations with a player when his deal is about to expire that would be crazy. Clubs always offer new deals with a minimum 1-2 years left. That way they don’t do a Flamini. Wenger was always angry about that too cause for months Flamini said he was gonna sign only to hold talks with Milan a few weeks before the end of the season.
Van Persie would’ve been out of contract June 2011, so we could’ve renewed his terms at the end of next season.
Flamini finalised the AC Milan deal in February straight after Eduardo’s leg break.
LOL@ Randy Osae …. I’ve just seen some embarrassing comments on the Grove that I’d expect more from Spurs fans.
