Kolo Toure has signed a four-year deal at Manchester City for a fee reported to be in the region of £16million, Sky Sports News understands.

The former Arsenal defender agreed personal terms at Eastlands earlier on Wednesday and successfully passed a medical later in the day.

A severance package, which was thought to be a stumbling block, for Toure has now been agreed with the Gunners and the Ivory Coast star has completed his move.

City boss Mark Hughes has already signed midfielder Gareth Barry and forwards Roque Santa Cruz, Carlos Tevez and Emmanuel Adebayor this summer.

The Welshman has now turned his attention to his defence and, after failing in attempts to sign Chelsea captain John Terry, has captured Toure.

Everton’s Joleon Lescott is thought to be next on City’s wanted list after a bid of £15million was rejected by the Toffees earlier in July.

Hughes is understood to be ready to table an improved offer to the Goodison Park hierarchy for the England defender.

Reports suggest Newcastles Obafemi Martins is a target for Arsene Wenger now the departure of Adebayor has taken place. For me there are both negative and possitive things i can say about this striker.

On a negative side, he has always looked a good finisher from what i have seen, but like many inconsistant strikers it takes him one out of five chances to score. However this could of just been his bad form at Newcastle. Playing around a shit team with no solid players around him and not settling.

On a positive side, Newcastle have just been related from the Premier League so it would be a chance to get him on the cheap. Full report follows.

The Togolese forward left to join the revolution at City of Manchester Stadium on Saturday in a deal thought to be worth around £25-million.

It is now thought that the money raised by the Adebayor sale will be used to fund other Arsenal signings.

The Gunners have been linked with a move for Newcastle United striker Martins for the last year, and it was reported that Wenger had made bids for the Nigerian. However, no such move has yet taken place, but the rumours still circulate.

The latest speculation to hit the headlines is that the Gunners are willing to pay a cut-price £7-million for the Nigeria international.

The Magpies were relegated on the final day of last season, and this has led to much speculation about the futures of their top players.

Martins moving would allow a massive deduction from the wage bill at St James’ Park, and the club are reportedly eager to sell him to the Gunners.

The 25-year-old Togo international has joined the Blues for an undisclosed fee. He will wear the number 25 that he sported at Arsenal last season.

A crowd of around 300 Blues fans were at the City of Manchester Stadium to greet the striker whose was named African Player of the Year for 2008.

The player was hugely impressed by his reception.

“It made me feel really welcome and special and I can’t wait to play for City’s fans and show them what I can do,” he declared after completing the bulk of the paperwork.

According to “Sports.co.uk” who were the first to report that Thomas Vermaelen would sign to Arsenal within 24 hours, Marouane Chamakh is also to sign and close a deal with Arsenal.

The 25 year old Moroccan will replace Emmanuel Adebayor who is set to departure for Manchester City for a reported £25m.

Sport.co.uk understands that Arsenal are in the final stages of completing a move for Bordeaux hitman Marouane Chamakh. According to a source close to the club the Gunners have agreed a fee with their French counterparts and are on the verge of concluding personal terms with the player.

Chamakh will replace Togo forward Emmanuel Adebayor who is expected to complete a £25 million move to Manchester City in the next 24 hours.

Frenchman Wenger has been linked with a move for the 25-year-old Moroccan since January but appears to have moved quickly now that the necessary finances have been freed up.
