After previously maintaining bullish responses to questions about the Togolese striker’s future, the Arsenal boss has now decided not to give anything away on constant speculation that Adebayor may have played his last game for the club.

The French tactician is on a Beijing trip with mission to help promote the youth of Chinese football.

But when an official confrontation with the press was called after his duties, topics on the progress of his squad dominated the discussion rather than that of the youngsters he had come to help in China.

Arsene Wenger is now hinting signs of uncertainty around Emmanuel Adebayor in his failure to deny nor confirm any suggestions on the future of the 25-year-old who was on duty with his country yesterday.

“I would not like to comment on the future of Emmanuel Adebayor. Please respect that.” Wenger said

The manager also issued his ambitions for next season way ahead.

“As always our priorities remain in the Premiership and Champions League. Of course we will have to qualify for the Champions League first and hope we go a step better than we did last year.”

sell him,he doesnt want to stay and thinks he’s Henry after a fluke season. He cant even dribble past 1 defender. No one season wonder is bigger than arsenal

  2. Kav_gooner says:

There IS raw talent in Ade, but he seemed incedibly lazy/complacent this season. And it’s always so frustrating that he gets cought offside more often than any one else I can think of in the Premiership for the last 2 years (or was that ust my impression?) Last year, when offers in excess of £20 million came in I was all for letting him go and maximising the profit as I thought that his high goal tally was more a feature of a breathtakingly productive midfield than his own “killer instinct”. As a matter of interest, in the 2007/2008 season, what was his ratio of goals to chances, does any one out there know? Dzeko looks fearsom. Scores goals with left AND right foot and his head. and he’s quick. I don’t think he’d get caught offside!

  3. tommy smith says:

Pls sell him off and get Dzeko…his a far better striker

  4. le prof says:

its not a good idea for us to sell our best players after 1 bad season or a disagreement with a team mate, a great team comes out of these struggles, it takes character to be booed by your own fans and come back a better, wiser man/player, i agree that adebayor has been a bit silly at times, my concern is his offside record and i believe he has great potensial, enough to be 1 of the best ever. we cant just replace people all the time, its difficult to build a winning team doing that. anyway,i think he should stay-work things out and wenger should buy 3 players

  5. Temidayo says:

I would have sold Bendtner and buy Dzeko……..Adebayor may be good as a supporting striker……..but for his complaceny sell him for 8 million to Milan plus Flamini……then buy Dzeko

  6. Sammy Mooner says:

We really must keep Adebayor – we really, really need a big centre forward who can’t stay onside to save his life, has a turning circle of an oil tanker and absolutely no left foot. Not to mention the fact that he actually doesn’t give a feck. He’s an egotistical plank with all the mental dexterity of Johnny Hartson.

Trouble is I don’t believe there are any serious bidders out there. Because who the feck with half a footballing brain would want him?

  7. shu says:

the problem is his attitude and not his talent, most african players r very emotional and once they deciede not to play, they become very irritating…drogba, eto’o, song, eboue, zakora, to mention but a few…having said that, i think ade needs to go elsewhere or sit on the bench more often to get to his right senses. we need to sell a lot of players before we buy cuz in the case of arsenal, no bread is better than half! i dunno y we think we have substitutes in silvestre, bendtner, diaby and denilson…and of course ade

  8. Gooner says:

I hope Ade stays, he still has a lot to offer AFC.

And to all those fans who keep saying how good Dzeko(he may be and probably is good), stop basing your opinions on raw statistics from last year and a few youtube clips.

  9. Josh says:

Let him go, he has said that he only cares about the mmoney, and he is way too lazy.

  10. aran says:

Kav_Gooner, I couldn’t agree more. Ade reveals at times what a beautiful game he can play, and in true arsenal style. He just appears to have no motivation anymore, which is anyone’s guess why it would come and go so quickly. If we sell him, I think it’s the right move, but it will be sad for me to see a talented player leave for these reasons. I wonder if it’ll be an increasing issue in the modern game. A good season, then retire on your finances and ego, rather than keep the fire for the game burning. Sad…
