Thomas Vermaelen nears Arsenal move
By Randy Osae
Arsenal Spot understands Arsenal are within negotiations of luring Ajax centre-back Thomas Vermaelen.
The 23-year-old has been a target for Arsene Wenger recently with the club’s former skipper Tony Adams giving his perspective of the young defender last night.
“I think Thomas is a very good player but I don’t think he’s ready for the Arsenal,” Adams told Setanta.
“I don’t think the punters at Arsenal would like another small one.
“I don’t know whether he’ll [Arsene Wenger] end up going for a bigger player. We’ll see how much money we’ve got first.”
Prominent sources from the UK media are also hinting a similar story, with Vermaelen reportedly keen to complete a £10 million move to north London within the next week.
There has been no official confirmation nor denial from the club yet but if streaming claims are anything to go by, then Wenger may have landed a defensive boost.
Wenger is reportedly in talks with Ajax general manager Rik Van Der Boog to seal the deal.
An Ajax insider told Sun Sport:
“It’s true. He’s a very good player and could certainly be a success at Arsenal.”

Really, how good is this guy..we really nead quality players
He is young, with average physicality and some experience (at least to our squad’s credentials)
I personally would have preferred an older, bullish centre-back but I will take Vermaelen with open arms.
Well IF this is true. He’s is around the same height as Toure, but one thing that stands out his ability to jump. He out jumps most people that are taller than him. Let’s wait and see if it’s true or not.
He has signed for Arsenal for a fee believed to be in the region of 10 million pounds. This has been a shocking result to the fans of Arsenal-mania, and Arsenal fans currently residing on PESFAN.com, who are all fainting at the thought of Arsenal signing someone in early June, as opposed to the last 2 seconds of the Trasnfer Window.
WIKI
i think that Juventus defender, Chiellini, would be a perfect signing. he may cost a lot, but he is still young and has a lot of experience. fast and tough-tackling.
ive seen this guy in action he is good in the air and is very similar to toure, wenger seems to have woken up
arshavin
this guy
new contracts for walcott and RVP
Chiellini is strong but he is not quick and his positioning is suspect; he could go on to become a very good player possibly, but thats an answer to a different question
Chiellini will never ever leave Juventus for Arsenal. I have never seen Vermaelen anyway..
I’m bit concerned about Tony Adams.
first the claim that he is in pole position to take over at Celtic and now i’ve also read that he has been scouting for us. This is from sport.uk
Arsenal legend Tony Adams has claimed that he has been working for Arsenal’s scouting team for the last five years and that Arsene Wenger has often watched matches with him on the continent as the pair weigh up potential new recruits.
I hope he’s not going loco!
Tony Adams really needs to shut hie pie hole. It’s obvious that he knows so much about coaching and running a team…….I’m upset that a once great player like him is coming back to open his mouth.
Hes looking good… We just need a CM who can be a more defensive than fabregas..
also im dissapointed because of tony adams…Wegner knows what he is doing, he hasnt been sacked for atleast 13 years with arsenal…he was sacked from porthsmouth in half a season so i suggest he should stfu till he knows what hes doing!
why on earth would Barry, or the dude from Fulham not want to join Arsenal?
This team and the youth team are going to be dominate in years to come. Cesc give us two more years, by then insert Jacky into his spot and use the millions from Cesc to but some more players.
Right now as much as I love Cesc, he really handcuffs the midfield and forces the Gaffer to play his current team around him.
Biggest thing I would like to see come from the off season, other than some buys…the Bergkamp roll being filled by Arshavin on a day to day basis.
Nasri, Cesc, (New Guy) Rosicky
AA
RVP
did u get this of the bull shit of sport.crap that site is bull shit.
Arsenal need to spend on big (top class players) to compete for honors next season. Not by spending peanuts and getting a monkey job out of it.
daniele de rossi we neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed him !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i dont care about any body i want this guy even tho i hate italy and anythin tht relates to italy but this guy will get th job done 4 the def midfield experince nd everythin
We should get blaise matuidi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zc4sA5I892s he scores longrange, is fast, and hes an defensive midfielder
He’s a very well header indeed, think he scored about five this season with his head aswell. He doesn’t lose much personal duels, very reliable. Offensive he’s not to well, but he’s developing there, but don’t think Arsenal are getting him for that anyway. He usually plays CB, but due to some factors he played LB last season and did a very decent job there. Would not let him play LB though, as I said, offensive he’s not to much (expect for the heading part).
jonh, its simple. if you dont like the site then why bother?
Guys, I’m doing my best to get rid of the spammer. Sorry for any inconveniences.
i think vermaleen woul be a very good buy;hes great in the air,hes young and he has 4 active years of experience……held blend into d team easily based on age group rhytm &blend into playing beautiful football.watch out 4 another defeder coming cuz am sure Master Weneger isnt done wit d defence yet….
