Arshavin reveals an awful lot on Arsenal matters in webchat
Arsenal forward Andrey Arshavin held a compelling webchat on his official site yesterday where he answered a bucket load of intriguing questions from fans around the world.
The 28-year-old – still an English learner – was not tight-lipped about topics we have all craved his thoughts on.
Here was how the discussion went.
Question: Is the atmosphere in the Arsenal dressing room before a match a lively and fun one or a serious one?
A.A: I like the atmosphere in our dressing room. We always have some music playing, the guys feel quite at ease.
Someone’s getting a massage, others are playing with the football, we joke with each other. It’s very comfortable and cozy in our dressing room.
Question: What about the support at the Emirates? What’s the difference to Zenit?
A.A.: The main difference? That would be the language; ” What else? In St. Petersburg the ground has a capacity of 20 thousand, whereas Arsenal’s has 60 thousand. There are far more banners in St. Petersburg though.
In Petersburg, Zenit’s supporters prepare a unique performance for every game. Sometimes they make banners that cover one or two sectors completely with a few thousands fans taking part.
What are the similarities? Players feel the incredible support and love the fans at both stadiums. And of course it serves as extra inspiration for us to play well. It feels great when supporters appreciate our work.

Question: Who is the funniest player at Arsenal? Who is the best dressed at Arsenal?
A.A.: It’s hard for me to tell. I don’t know English well enough yet.
English humour is quite refined, it’s still difficult to understand for me. Who’s the best dressed? I say Song!

A.A.: Jack Wilshere and (Kieran) Gibbs
Question: Do Arsenal players read internet forums?
A.A.: Sometimes.
