Arsene promises no exits and more signings

Arsene Wenger has promised to hold a firm grip of his squad this summer to avoid any repeat of the Flamini/Hleb regrets last season.
The boss often completes sales before making recruits but Wenger has been doing different business this summer.
Arsenal’s tactician lured Vermaelen as early as last Friday and should he go according to his promise of “2-3″ additions, then there could be more new faces on the way.
But that also had spurred suggestions that the Belgian’s arrival will mean another Gunner’s departure.
Even though Phillipe Senderos should remain at AC Milan, that, according to Arsene Wenger may be the only goodbye he will have to say to one of his aces.
Arsene is certain to retain stability in his 26-man squad.
“We lost Hleb and Flamini last summer and we have had to rebuild,” said Wenger. “But we have done that now and the future looks bright. We don’t want to have to rebuild again, so I want to keep all the players together for next season. I don’t want to lose anyone.
“I want to add to the squad and have identified one or two targets. But identifying players and buying them are two different things.”
Wenger is willing to improve his options also. Indeed, the French manager is not looking to end the spending spree here and insists more acquisitions are imminent.
Arsene does believe his side is not short of quality and should he fail to add, last season’s exploits of an unbeaten league streak and cup semi-finals should be reason to not discount them.
“Ideally I would like to bring everybody in before we start back in pre-season training in July. I don’t want to leave it until the end of August,” he added.
“We are at a stage where we need to convince people that this team does a lot of things right. It does not need to be transformed. When you go on a long unbeaten run in the Premier League and reach two semi-finals, common sense should tell you that.
“We have to take encouragement from what we have done in the season just gone.
Arsenal’s boss again reiterated his cautious spending is to aid the club financially.
“I am fed-up with people who think I have £100m in the bank yet don’t want to spend it. How can people think that? “The pride of the club is in having moved to a new stadium while maintaining the club at the top level.
“The policy of the club is that they have backed me in what I do and the way I do it. We now have to be strong enough to stick to that. We cannot pump £100m into it, so we must keep faith in what we are doing.”

sorry to say ……but thats a ridiculous suggestion…wenger would never sell almunia …for the record i felt gallas did well last season……its only after gallas got injured that we started leaking goals……trust me gallas still has alot left in him….A defender is at his best after 27…..
i’d rather have one of diaby,senderos,adebayor,eboue or toure leave and have melo or inler come in…..and then might switch to 4-3-3 …..we have plenty of attacking option…and with that we can reallly make the 4-3-3 formation work……. and it doesnt sound good but i am 100% sure we will have some one leave before the transfer window closes….I dont believe arsene when he says he wont sell any one……and he probably might need some cash to buy his so called “1-2″ players…. One of the above menioned will surely leave….
But again I am very happy with what he’s doing..seems to have a plan this summer….Great to know… Arsenal to win a trophy this season..I am sure…
It is amazing what some of that lazy dross can get away with,if this had been United there would have been wholse sale changes.Would Fergie stand for the lazy and arrogant Adebayor,the inept and never to reach the right level Diaby,the keystone cop defending by Gallas and Toure etc.Wenger is simply to kind and forgiving if you want to win(Wenger clearly doesnt give a shit anymore about winning)you will have to be ruthless when your players turn in yet another dismal season,prapare yourself for another season of bad excuses to cover up for ineptitude.

Completely outclassed in cl semi and fa cup semi,made to look like a pub team compared to Manure and Chelsea,missing that final step he really is in denial or should i say, still in denial.
I just realized that we as Gunner fans ask way to much. We bitch and complain when the let people go, but then we ask for the heads of players and complain when we say we don’t keep a team together.
I for one hope that they keep EVERYONE, a team can only get better by playing together for so many years. Look at the Invincibles, they were a well oiled machine that played as a team. Bringing in some fresh faces will help but keeping and bolstering the current team will only make them better.
The only thing I’m worried about is players bitching about playing time. It’s goign to be hard to play RVP, Arshavin, Eduardo, Bendtner and Ady along with Nasri, Theo, Vella, Gibbs and DJ.
The only solids that I see that start every game are
Almunia
Sagna, Clichey, and Cesc. Everyone else can be rotated.
I just really hope that we can work something out, keep a cool and calm team and keep the atmospher in good form.
I believe and have faith in Wegner and feel that this last year was just a stepping stone and building block for something brilliant.

and ya both Man U and Chelsea made the Gunners look like a “pub team” in those final games but remember that the Gunners beat both of those teams earlier in the season. so to say that we are miles away from them is wrong… just a couple good signings.. keep the rest.

USA Gunner,may i state the obvious that some and actually a great many of these players are not good enough to play for Arsenal it is blatantly obvious that in whatever position Wenger plays them wont make any difference.Denilson is not a proper defensive midfielder,Abou Diaby neither,none of them can hold a candle to Petit,Vieira,Gilberto and what is more important they never will no matter how much our manager insist.If i start to talk about our defense i wont be finished tonight,Wenger used to be ruthless when his players couldnt perform, nowadays he just accept the current trash in the side,he is hellbent on winning trophies with the current crop but it wont happen because he is so stubbon that he will never realize that he need to change his ways but luckily we only have to take 2 more years of this crap before his contract is up,the board will have to do something proper and hire either Hiddink or Mourinho a proper manager and one who is actually interested in winning.

up front is rvp on the left wing he is a natural LW and wenger converted him to a striker ade is the natural hitman with our central midfielders providing magic and arsh the magic man on the right this 11 is obviously flexible as AA and RVP can play support strikers so can fab and nasri can be deployed anywhere arcoss the front 5 roles (CM/CM/LF/CF/RF) exept for the CF role we have a good backup in fabianski walcott rosicky eduardo bentdner and hopefully vermalean will prove good defensive cover

I dun think he promise us anything about exits or more signings. It is just that he wants or rather hopes that no one to leave and that he can add some more to the squad. Not to be a dampener but just won’t want you guys to get the hopes up too much.
DanishGunner is largely correct, there are too many average players in the team. Robin and Cesc have stated as much publicly, they want silverware and they know what’s really going on. Without the last gasp purchase of Arshavin we could have been in real trouble last year, not one of the youngsters made much of a difference, on the positive side. The midfield creaks and groans under the slightest pressure because most of our midfielders are indifferent regarding their defensive duties. Ade sees this as well and probably feels his chances for trophies are better at a club with more ambition. Without significant changes we’re looking at another barren season. As far as Wenger making ‘promises’ about transfers – don’t use the word promise and Wenger in the same sentence lad, makes you look really ignorant. Randy it’s cool mate, you’re passionate, but wenger just talks a lot, most of it can be chucked.

The only changes that are necessary are getting rid of Silvestre (hopefully retaining Senderos because when Song and Toure leave for ACN) and perhaps signing Melo (although I think that Denilson is good enough to play week in week out – he will be the best DM in the world in 3 to 4 years).

Remeber when the only problem we had was defense? Then that got better, then we had the problem with scoring, and then that got better.
This team just needs to play together again. Gel as a team and play as a team.
