With many bargaining to end this season right here, next term will not seem to come any sooner and so will the summer never be longer.
Concrete foundations are needed for 2009/10 - which must, at last, at last, see an end to this trophy drought. Last year, new signings only came to compensate unwanted losses of Flamini and co. But should the squad maintain it’s face for once this summer, there should be some incomings also. Any recruits could also be aided by the sale of the sour grapes.

Bring back senderos and he can replace silvestre for 4th choice defender. then we need to keep kolo and gallas, gallas is WORLD CLASS, but a Hangeland esque defender is required to attack the ball all day long. song is good, i like song. Gareth Barry would be a great addition, he can play alongside cesc and if games need chasing barry has the ability to go forward. but defensivly song is better. I can’t even remotely understand people wanting Bendtner out. He has scored 15 goals this season. What other 4th striker (okay, technically 3rd because of Dudu’s injuries) has been as prolific? He is a great talent and those who don’t see it don’t know much about football. And M.Johnson, I’m supposing you were joking about selling Walcott. I wouldn’t mind Ashley Young but we should never, ever sell Walcott.
We don’t need much, just couple of players. Adebayor is a good player who turns very good when he runs. Unfortunately he has lost the will to run for us, so sell him for all I care. RvP should stay but man, he is the most frustrating player in the squad. No kidding, he has missed more good chances this season than Nick has.
We should get rid of Ade, Kolo (or not play him regularly at least), Silvestre, Diaby, maybe Denilson although I like him. Then we need Marcos Senna in midfield to have a very good midfield of Cesc, Song, Senna, Ramsey and Merida. We should buy a DM who has passed 30 because in couple of years, Song will be as good as Essien (maybe not quite, but close). I’m afraid of Fabianski but we mainly need a new CB. I want Kolo out of the starting line-up, Senderos back and a monster in there. We need our own Vidic. If we had Vidic and United didn’t, we’d be top of the table with them flying ten points behind.
Couldn’t agree more with Franny on both counts, Bendtner deserves some credit! Out of your list i would most like to have Gourcuff, though we probably need Cana and Chiellini more. Cana’s probably the most realistic target out of them all, can’t see Chiellini leaving juve sadly.

I would rather keep Bendtner than Ady, Nicholas attacks the goal and hustles, in my book that is a lot better than what Ady has done. Ady has only scored in the games against weak teams.

Firstly Bendtner is a far much better footballer than Walcott both as a stricker and on the wing and how some people want him out i dont understand. A 21 year old 3 rd choice striker scoring 15 goals ? a better return than A certain Berbatov and people want him ? u lot make me laugh. Ok he made some horrible misses this season but he is young and was mainly due to lack of confidence coz his own fans were on his back. i reckon he could have score 20 this season if he had got lots of support from fans

secondly I dont think Arsenal neccessarily need to buy anyone … i think we need to sought out our defending as team not just the defensive players.
Individually our back four is good they just dont defend well together as a unit ? and we dont defend well as team.
Too many a times our players are caught ball watching. Anelka’s goal on sunday is an example. Nasri was the closest to him but his tracking back was laughable. its in the psychological thing. The whole team has to change the attitude to defending but Wenger knows this.
same thing happened in 2003 when everyone was saying we needed a defender and wenger converted kolo to CB and challenged the team to defend better as team and we all know wat happened in thats season. INVICIBLES

Theo should be drooped though. he is just not there yet. he offers nothin but pace which we can get usefully from other players. He a useful sub at best.

1. Keep this team together? well most .They got to two semis, they can only get better from here as a team. its his challenge to get them over the line. The psychological bonding thing aswell will work particularly in our midfield. ARSHAVIN, CESC , NASRI, ROSICKY havent played together that much and dont have the understanding on and off the field that Flamini. cesc, hleb had last season. something that we lost and would be helped by keeping this lot together.
2. Keeping this team healthy. This has proven to be our major undoing in the past 2 season or . we just seem to have the most injury prone player in our side. Diaby hasnt played 5 consecutive game for arsenal and have destroyed his confidence some that has been visibly lately.
3. EDUARDO, ROSICKY. We need these to guys fit.next season. If we can get 50 games between them ill be happy. They are not the best player in the world but they each offer us something different and they dramitically increase our depth.

I think some of you are crazy.
Let Ade go. If we get anything close to 20M that’s a HUGE net gain.
Bring in a really good DM and CB.
Other than those two additions I think we’re going to rock next year.
In the front we’d still have RVP, Eduardo, Bendtner, Arshavin, Vela, Walcott, and potentially Rosicky to score goals.
In midfield we’d have Cesc/Nasri/Rosicky/Arshavin as creative players along with whoever of the first group Wenger decides to play on the outsides. Couple those with a strong DM and Denilson/Song would make great backups. Let Diaby/Ramsey play Carling Cup/lower level competition to rest the starters.
At the back we’ve got Clichy and Sagna as very very good starters, with Gibbs and Eboue as very very good backups. Pair either Toure or Gallas with the new big ass mean CB. Problems solved. Djourou, whichever of Toure or Gallas that’s left out of the preferred starting 11, Senderos, and Song are plenty of cover for the CB spots. Let Silvestre finish his contract as a coach or beer vendor.
Adding those two players and letting only Ade go gives us a much bigger squad without letting go players who are still relatively young and have a chance to be really good if they can become consistent (Diaby, Song, Djourou, Senderos et al).
Sell Adebayor- Bring in one of these: Gignac, Benzema, Hunterlaar, Mario Gomez.
Sell Diaby and Denilson- No need to buy Just Move Kolo toure into midfield and bring back Traore to replace Diaby

I’m not convinced anyone should leave. Maybe loan out a few younger players but I think the foundation is solid.
I would suggest Gourcuff, the guy’s on fire at Bordeaux. Lille’s Hazard could be good too, but still very young.
We need to strengthen the back, urgently, and we need more versatile players. Richards or Onuoha would be nice, but unlikely.
If we could land a big name like Eto’o or Villa, that would be ideal, but again not likely to happen.

I suppose that’s what we are armchair coaches and Wenger puts his neck on the line and faces the fire. Before even considering who leaves or comes, you have to think about what a team needs for success. And most of these comments make no sense in this context. You need quality, depth, experience (not age!), chemistry, leadership, organisation and fan support. Which of these does Arsenal have?
In my opinion, we have quality, but not depth, and it’s down to youth, not number of players. Leadership is lacking and organisation suffers as a result. Chemistry seems to be affected by some characters within the team like Ade.
Conclusion, sell Ade, not because he’s not good enough but because he’s bad for chemistry. Keep Eboue because he gives us depth in 5 positions. Buy a vocal, physical leader for central midfield and central defence. Arshavin brought leadership in attack, we need it in DM and CD. Think hard about the style of football. Arsenal is made for 4-5-1, but not like Chelsea plays it, more like the way Barca does it. Very compact in midfield with great pace on each wing. Our left side is not pacy enough without Arshavin.
Gilbert will be back next year to give us RB depth, one problem solved. Rosicky seems to be ok, that the left sorted. Eduardo should be more resilient. THat’s depth upfront.
90% of the problem: Leadership and organisation. The other 10%: fan support.
I think Arsenal need to lose one or two players and get 3 possibly 4 of the right kind in. I have to stress, the right kind i.e. players in the mould of Campbell, Parlour, Vieira, Lauren etc.
Now this is easy to say, i know. But we need winners. In todays market these type of players are not cheap and are certainly hard to find but Arsenal need to find them and for the right price.
We have many potentially fabulous young midfielders but this club can not wait the 2 or 3 years for them to develop. True great players usually show their potential in glimpses at a young age anyway so we could argue some players should be bumped down the pecking order and superseeded by players who can do the job now.
I feel Adebayor should leave Arsenal. I don’t hate him. When he give it 110% he is very good. But I fear 2007-08 Ade has gone forever.
I feel Silvestre should be nothing more than squad fodder and should not be relied upon as much as he has in such a vital part of the season.
I have mixed views on Denilson, Song and Diaby. I actually feel Diaby could be the ace in the pack but the other two had good half seasons. Maybe there lies the problem. No consistency. Denilson good first half and Song a good second half of the season. But can any of those players be anywhere the level or players of past like Petit, Parlour, Edu, Vieira even Grimandi?
I would move some of these inconsitant performers further away from the first for now and sign a dominant midfielder along with a dominant centreback and a clincial striker/attacker (depends if he feels Theo is ready for the centre yet) with presence. These players need to be winners though. They have to add fight, spine and character to this potentially great team.
I would go Joleon Lescott/ Cristian Zapata/ Micah Richards or Sakho. They are have similar yet different qualities. But 4 names people. For names that may not add experience but are fighters.
As for midfield, its more difficuilt. Any suggestions people? What midfielders and attackers do you feel could do the job for us and have the desired qualities to really move this squad of players forward.
P.S. I feel 4-3-3 and 4-4-2 should be the only formations we use from now on.
We are not too far, but problems need to be addressed otherwise we will continue to slide. You can’t keep polishing turds.

Funny how all the players being mentioned are ones that we have been linked with in the last week or so after the losses against United and Chelsea. This is just the media making up stories but after analysing the season I think that the following players should and will be leaving:
1) Gallas – After being removed as captain his ego has been battered…he was our best defender from January till he got injured and i think was key to holding our defence together. I think he will go back to France or to Italy. Fee: 7m
2) Silvestre – Should be sold/released unless we keep him as a 5th choice centreback Fee: Nominal
3) Diaby – Too injury prone…has 1 good game every 5 games he plays..plus i think we need to offload one midfielder to make room for an incoming midfielder. Linked to Italy. Fee: 10m
4)Adebayor: Should have sold him for 30m last year as even then people were saying he was over rated. After last summer’s “im going and im staying” stories and his lazy performances this year as well as his stories of speaking to AC Milan owner the day before the biggest game of the year against Man Utd and comparing them to Beyonce i think his time is up. The fans are fed up. Fee: 22m
Others: Not sure what is going to happen with Senderos, I think he is a good 4th choice defender to have. Think there will be a few reserve team players being sold too such as Kerrea Gilbert, Nacer Barazite etc.
Overall income: 45m +/- 5m
IN: Wenger has said he will bring players and it will not be players that lack experience as we have enough of those already.
I think we need 3/4 players depending on Senderos returning. If he does we need 1 centre back if he doesnt we will need 2.

In realtion to what we need – during the period the season is over all players have to spend an hour each day shooting the ball hard into an empty net from about 20 yards. I think next season if we at least have an average of 20 shoots around the 18 yard area at each game we shall win the League by December. Buying is no solution we only need to work on our weaknesses – not shooting, our boys especially the forwards must learn how to shoot first time. Let us look at the 2009 – 2010 with more promise and stop shouting the “buy, buy” chant. It was almost a bad season but end well…

Why the f*ck is everyone kicking out Diaby? I can guarantee you he is more of a presence, and more of a threat than good for nothing Denilson… He would be my first choice out. Bendtner. Then possibly Adebayor. But I’ve seen Adebayor score, and he scores a lot when he has a good team around him (last seasons example).
So I would just bring in:
Hangeland and/or Lescott – We are in desperate need of 2 centre backs, maybe just 1 because Gallas is a starter in my book, he has the passion.
David Villa -(only if Adebayor is sold)
Carlos Tevez – even if Adebayor isn’t sold we should get him or try. His presence will make the other attackers up their game to match his work ethic.
Flamini – Back from AC Milan. He already knows the Premiership, knows his football and can be trusted. He will be hungry for football and ready to return 2 arsenal if we showed the slightest interest.

My first move going forward into next season is putting Arshavin in the Bergkamp role and going from there.
CB and DM needs are obvious.

I’d look to offload Adebayor, one of Diaby or Denilson and Silvestre and maybe Gallas.
It’s clear to see that we are very good going forward but our weaknesses are in defence.
We should look to bring in Zapata, Albiol or Sahko this summer as I think they can be available. Also Dabo of St. Ettienne cause not only is he very good and very versatile (left/right back and midfield) but he would be cheap enough and his current club are in a relegation battle at the moment so he won’t want to stay there.
I think if Adebayor is to go which there’s a chance then replace him with Dzeko from Wolfsburg and we’d be sorted, the guy is a goal machine and scores the simply goals and his movement is fantastic too or Mario Gomez from Stuttgart would be good too he’s scored 23 goals so far this season.
I can see another midfielder coming in. Maybe Wenger will go back in for Inler or Alonso who both decided to stay last summer. He does always say he sees Song as a defender maybe thats cause he wants to buy an experienced central midfielder.
So get rid of Adebayor, Diaby, Gallas and Silvestre and bring in Albiol, Dabo, Dzeko and Inler or Yaya Toure and if Rosicky’s fitness is beyond him then sign Gourcuff cause he’s class.

Andriy’s pace, vision, passing and heavy stroke will allow him to excel in this role. I have visions of the lightning counter-attacks being started by outlet balls from Cesc to Andriy who will push, draw the defenders and dish to Robin or out onto the wings.

No way we can afford Gourcuff- as much as I love the kid’s game. He truly is the closest thing when people speak of the dreaded “Next Zidane” title. Bordeaux has until the end of the month to trigger the 15 mil buyout clause in his loan contract.
IMO, they could probably flip him the next day for a minimum of 25 mil. Surely that is going to be out of Wenger’s range- especially after we spend (hopefully) to shore up the CB and DM positions.
Anyone who thinks AW is going to get rid of 5 guys and then buy a whole clip of players on big transfer fees is in la la land. Ade, Diaby and Gallas should go. I thought Gallas did well this year but he should move on.

We have two guys that are in the tevez mold so thats dumb. So is thinking that we will buy 4 or 5 top tier guys worth millions.
Depth will be our savior next year. that and playing guys in their proper spot on the field. Bedtner has shown me a lot in recent time. i hated him but everyone needs to get off his back. We need a leader with balls Fab unfortunately has not shown that this year.
