AW is deluding himself and in particular the fans if he thinks there is not that great a difference between Arsenal and the leading sides. For starters if he brings in new personnel, they will have to jel with the other players. The other leading teams have settled teams for some time and could fly off the block when the season resumes in August.
Of course it's not all doom and gloom.

Kidz...

Yeah...was a little late getting this fired off to Randy. Had hundreds of mid-term exams to mark and grades to post the last few days. Not enough time in the days sometimes ;-)

City "G"...

Most def we are on the same page with Theo. Of course I'd like him to come good and live up to the incessant hype that surrounds him because that would lead to silverware for the club. But, I think the expectations of the media and supporters makes him feel "tight" and it affects the game. Instead of crowning him as the heir apparent to Thierry Henry and giving him #14, I think it would have been wiser for Wenger to downplay the hype and stop the "kid glove" treatment. I agree with your idea...challenge him to battle and prove himself as the definitive starter on RW.

Goldz...for sure Walcott had his fingerprints all over the match in the first 35 minutes...that was a major positive...he just needs to really focus in front of the net and concentrate on getting his stroke over when he is played into quality positions. The fact he was getting the chances is something he needs to capitalize and build upon.

Anton...

I think Almunia is a decent keeper and would be even better next season with some extra competition in the first team. Fabianski has had his confidence dented badly the last 4 weeks...he is going to need a couple more seasons (by the looks of it) before he will be ready to take over at #1.

Butta'-legs yippin' to the press about a "step backwards" for the club and renewed interest in Milan is disrespectful and annoying. If Robin stays and Adebayor wants out then I say we facilitate him and use the cash we get back to address our needs at CB and CDM. We have more than enough with Robin, Vela, Eddy, Bendtner and Arshavin at striker.

Not sure what to expect at Old Trafford...I don't really care about the scoreline...I just like to see us hustle and bang with them and for us to play like we did for the first 35 minutes and last 20 minutes against Chelsea...only with better finishing.

Pretty spot on analysis there, Karlos. I have to applaud Theo for his effort, for the first 35 minutes of the match he was involved in nearly every single dangerous move by Arsenal. He was making clever runs and the hunger was there. Unfortunately for him and for us fans, the finishing was not. Had he put in 1 or 2 of those chances, the match would have turned out completely different. If Arshavin had that many chances, he'd have netted a hat trick with ease.

Here's hoping the boys come out this weekend and try to make amends for the past two weeks. The fans deserve a good performance. I am interested to see what Arshavin can do against United.

Anybody else find it curious that Adebayor was ommitted, then was substituted late in the match AFTER Bendtner? Surely must have had something to do with his blabbering to the media again about Milan and how the club "took a step back" this season. If we do not see him in the starting 11 at Old Trafford- I'm going to have to take that as a clear indication that he will be sold this summer.

everyone complains we need a new GK after ronaldo scored that amazing but silly free kick. Without him we woulda been out of the semi final against ManU in the FIRST leg... :p hes a good stopper no doubt. everyone makes mistakes.. look at Cech! He makes more mistakes than almunia and yet hes an amazing stopper!

Almunia has come a long way since taking over from Jens Lehmann. He may have let in a soft goal recently against man utd (christiano ronaldo)but then, who doesn't? I feel that he has developed into a great stopper. I may be wrong but i feel that he is good enough to represent England.

Spot on Karlos, couldnt have said it any better.

Walcott is just not deserving of a starting spot @ arsenal for now. Honestly, the more wenger starts him the more a familiar feeling comes to mind (flash in a pan)Theo has not properly developed like he is supposed which is very sad. The best thing to do in my opinion will be to drop him to the bench to make him hungry and work hard in training knowing he's not a starter.

Gabby Agbonlahor, aaron lenon and ashley young are similar type players with theo and have developed gradually and better over time

Bendtner must stay. They guy is a hard worker and has improved a lot better than we give him credit for. I would rate him and song as the best developers amongst our whole youngsters.
