Five Goals of the season
By Randy Osae
Nasri vs United
This goal was trademark Arsenal.
The 21-22 passes that instrumented it just epitomized the purpose of Arsenal’s football. And there is no more splendid manner to finish off such a move than how Nasri did. As Martin Tyler attested, it was a witness of poise, patience and penetration.
Vela vs Wigan
What is it with this fellow and chipping the ball home?
It has been Vela’s brand of finishing when in danger zone and he has netted equally sublime chips on other occasions too. But this one against Wigan in the Carling Cup demonstrated another aspect of his game, and that is his clinical ability.
How he managed to accurately chip the ball over Chris Kirkland despite a leg-breaker of a challenge from a defender in the event was just phenomenal.
Van Persie vs Liverpool
You can never foresee what sort of goal any player will notch. In this man’s case, it’s just literal. This goal, for a relatively feeble player in physicality, was just top-draw. The vigor he showed with controlling Nasri’s long ball and then the clinical touch with his finish, resembled the qualities of Vela’s goal. Content of resistance and brilliance.
Not to forget, his thumping strike was with his weaker right foot.
Eduardo vs Burnley
Typical Eduardo.
Never have I seen a more pinpoint volley in my watching experience of this game. Whether luck or sheer accuracy, Eduardo made it all seem ridiculously simple when he wrapped Song’s floater with his shin and past Burnley’s Brian Jensen in this comfortable FA Cup tie.
Pure class.
Adebayor vs Villarreal
Pundits could hardly decided whether to rate the importance of this strike or the brilliance it was struck with. Frankly, they should do both.
An emphatic second-leg win in this Champions league quarter-final narrowed the magnitude of Adebayor’s goal, but I am sure his critics are still baffled till this day about how Adebayor enterprised his acrobatics.
Go ask him how he did that.
Other goals that could have made the list are: Diaby vs Villa, Van Persie vs Everton and an Arshavin goal.

I’m torn. I can decide which i love best. My Top 3 are;
1- Eduardo’s goal. The technique for the finish was top draw and that came from a player who hadn’t played hardly any games before that goal.
2-Van Persie’s goal comes in second for me. The way he controlled the ball and finished with his weaker foot was Ace.
3- Nasri’s goal comes in 3rd because of the build up play and the finish were of the Arsenal we love. It was a like training run, the way they put together that run.
So many good goals, you can almost do a top 10. Good top 5
Some others that might be up there.
-Theo’s goal vs. Villareal (chip)
-Bendtners goal (can’t remember who it was against but it was after a looooooooooong goaless stretch and was in Champions League play) was pretty motivating and you can tell was exactly what the squad needed.
It’s going to be a long summer without football.
arshavin vs blackburn any1
This is besides the point…I wasn’t rooting for anyone in the champions league final game, but it did make me happy that Hleb didn’t touch one foot on the pitch.
I hope they run out of medals and couldn’t afford to give that a hole one. Proves a point that some footballers are classier than others and would rather play than get paid to sit on a bench.
Best move ever, maybe Ady should follow in his spot.
28 passes vs Blackburn:

Toure vs. Chelsea – Great assist by Ashley ‘Legend’ Cole
USA gunner it was against dynamo kiev, bendnetrs goal.
As for me, any type of goal scored against our opponent is a good goal.
Good list. Ade’s goal against Villareal is my favorite.
The only addition I’d like to see is Arshavin’s second against Blackburn at the Emirates. He carved past the defender on the touchline and slammed home at a severe angle. On a personal note, I was at this game – which is a big deal for someone who lives in the midwestern US!

I think Adebayor’s goal against Blackburn (away) was our best as a team. It involved almost every forward player and whilst not the most spectacular of finishes it was a goal of pure beauty
Van Persie against Liverpool surely desrves a mention
I meant to say surely deseves a menton at the top of the chart!!!
vela 2nd against sheffield good control brilliant finnish, and vela first against burnley
Eduardo’s goal was certainly no luck. He knew exactly what he was doing. No shin either, outside of the left right near the heel
Spot on, Chris. A wonder goal.
umm…arshravin’s 4 goal tally?
ne video fr tht?
um, there should be a sixth goal for arshavins first goal where he had no angle.
and didn’t vela have an even better chip in the carling cup where he’d nutmegged the defender before chipping it?
