arshavin-at-homeArsenal’s Russian hit-man responded to some intriguing questions posed by all gooners around the world in a webchat organized on Monday.

Arsenal SPOT has snapped up the transcript and here it is.

(Thanks to D. Drozdov for translating and granting it)

Question: Who do you have the best understanding with on the pitch? Who are your best friends off the pitch? Who works hardest during training?

A.A.: Who works hardest? You can’t give any less than 100%. The manager won’t allow this and team-mates won’t appreciate that either. Victories come through the hard work during training. We have strong discipline, everyone gives their best in training and on the pitch.

My best mates off the pitch would be Cesc, Bendtner and Toure. On the pitch I have good understanding with everyone, I wouldn’t want to single anyone out.

Do you expect to win many trophies at Arsenal? What are your expectations/hopes for next season? How many goals do you think you will score?

A.A.: Of course I want to win many trophies. From next season, I’m expecting victories in the Champions League and in the Premier League. How many goals will I score? I don’t want to talk about this, since my predictions never materialize.

What type of player is Arsenal lacking right now?

A.A.: I think we need to buy 2-3 players, but it’s up to our manager to decide which positions he wants to strengthen.

How did you adapt to life in London? What aspect do you find the most different (diet, training regime, etc.)?

A.A.: Our training regime is pretty similar to what I’ve been doing in Russia. Food? Yes, this is where I notice the difference. I wouldn’t say English food is any better or worse than Russian, it’s just different. My friends often come to visit me and they love eating in the traditional English pubs. I haven’t been to one yet though. My wife cooks well at home, I also found some nice restaurants here.
I’ve got a slightly calmer lifestyle here. For adaptation, there are a few people helping me with that. I can’t say it’s very easy, but it’s getting better by the day. I think I’ll settle quite soon.

Who is the best player in the world right now? Who would you like to play alongside?

A.A.: I would say Messi. I would like to play with many different players, but I realize that it’s impossible. I think the high quality of players at Arsenal will help me develop even further.

Andrey, now that you live in the country of Beattles and Sex Pistols, will you sing karaoke in English for us? What are you going to sing?
A.A.: I think I need to master English first, otherwise it would be embarrassing. What would I sing? Something modern probably.

Being one of the oldest players in the side, do you think that it’s experience that we are lacking at the moment?
A.A.: I wouldn’t say they lack experience, since Arsenal consistently plays in the Champions League and always gets to the latter stages of the competition. Thankfully, many players have had plenty games against top opposition in the premiership as well. I think sometimes they could do with a bit more maturity or composure. It will come, you just need time.

  1. Al says:

    Legend!

  2. Goooona says:

Your too good for us arsha, if you want to win anything you were probably better off going to chelski or barca. Maybe Wenger will open his tight fists and get us back to where we belong, holding trophies at the end of the season.

  3. This site is just as bad as gooner talk

  4. Randy Osae says:

Why do I always get people from a site called “gooner talk” protracting every single post on this blog and then blindly hating on it?…wow

I’m sure everyone else here can tell you how “bad” this site is as much as your blog.

    Cheers for your feedback.

  5. Arse&Nose says:

build the team around this man, he speaks and acts like a leader on and off the pitch.

  6. Captain B-Rad says:

Shame nobody asked why his agent is such a C**T!

  7. DAF says:

What a top geezer. Can’t wait to see his effect on a more mature Arsenal next season. Be patient Gooners, the future is very bright.

  8. Aussie Gooner says:

He is a pure leader! Lead us to titles, Andrey!

  9. Franny says:

You mean “These were the questions posed by Arsenal Mania members and here are the replies given in Arsenal Mania”??

  10. Pat Rice says:

this seems very fabricated… did you *really* meet Arshavin, or is this just your mind hard at work?

  11. Renan says:

Ah ! I was hoping that somebody asked about our players situation right now !

    Cheers !

  12. adam says:

    he is my fav player.

  13. Gunner_4_Life says:

  15. Randy Osae says:

Guys, this webchat was held on his official site. Only if I had no life and was an unnecessary genius would I “fabrictate” that.

Here is the transcript if you want to proof – http://arshavin.eu/news.php?id=406

  16. cesky says:

Randy thanks for translating and posting, otherwise wouldnt have even known about the interview, and its interesting. Agree with the poster above who said arsha speaks like a leader on and off the pitch, he sure does. If he carries on the way he’s started im see a worthy replacement for the sorely missed bobby P!

  17. Karlos says:

My “gaydar” went off when I saw the picture included with this article. LOL.

Nice article though. Hope he spends the necessary time in the gym this summer…building up his stamina for a FULL EPL and CL season. With Adebayor looking more and more like the one to move…we are going to be leaning on Arshavin a lot more next campaign.

  18. sweets says:

What a guy. i think with andre and hopefully Van P they can help Nick take the next step in his progression. I think bendtner is set to explode next year and all three will give our side some edge. Arshavin is a born leader. I think he will have a positive effect on Fab too.

  19. This is the first time I’ve commented here and I must say you give genuine, and quality information for bloggers! Great job.
p.s. You have an awesome template for your blog. Is it a free template or did you have it designed especially for you, I’d love to talk to your designer !?
